Winter Break

End verdict: I got two As, two Bs, and my first ever C, but it's over until next semester starts on January 7th. Halo 4 is okay, Black Ops II is frustrating and sucks. Heroes is an awesome show. I will never study psychology. My brain is partly dead, and that's my life since my last post at the end of October. I need a girlfriend...






Well, I've been gone from dA for well over a month again, because of how crazy school is. I've already had two rounds of midterms, several large papers, and been trying to have a social life. Sorry to my online friends for neglecting you. It's not because I don't love you.

Hello again everyone; I know it's been about a month since I've really been on dA. I've had a busy summer. Here's what I've been up to since mid-July:

My dad is running for State Legislature in Washington State and so I was enlisted as his web and graphic designer, as well as the Facebook/Twitter manager for his campaign, so I've spent time designing his little door-to-door flyers and getting all that going.

I also spent a week at the Fire Mountain Boy Scouts camp in Mount Vernon, Washington, assisting a kid with a lump on his brain who is basically autistic in behavior. He had never spent more than one night away from home. His parents were hoping he'd make it through at least half the week and maybe even get a couple of partially completed merit badges. Needless to say when I was able to help him stay the entire week and complete four badges his parents were doing backflips (figuratively of course).

After that I had a mega family reunion that lasted a week. On Monday of that week my sister from Vegas came in and we went to Vancouver B.C. for a day. On Wednesday my sister from Minnesota and one from Utah came up. Thursday another sister from Utah and one from Portland came up. Add to that my brother and sister that live up in Washington all the time anyway. So throughout the week we had seven of my nine siblings there along with four of their spouses, my brother's girlfriend, eight of my eleven nieces and nephews, as well as two of my cousins that I grew up next door to and their families and other cousins and their families who showed up in the evenings every day. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we had big barbecues on our lawn, and Saturday we had a massive 120+ crowd at Marrowstone Island, all of whom we squeezed into a giant group picture that I took with my camera and tripod.

And now I'm back in Utah, and school starts again for me on Monday, August 27th. I move into my new apartment later this morning, but on the way driving back down here over the weekend, my dad and I stopped in Crater Lake, Oregon for a day.

So needless to say I've been busy, and I've also got some really cool photography that I'll be posting over the next little while, so please forgive my absence here on dA. We'll see how busy school keeps me, but I'll try to be on again now that I'm not quite as busy.

I am also pleased to announce that my Seattle panorama is now my very first available single print (as opposed to only doing calendars before)






Well, it's been a year and three months since I got back from Germany. I've finally run my reserves dry after 100+ great pictures. I have about a dozen more that I'll eventually post, but for now I'm pretty much done posting Germany photos. It's been a really good run. Next I plan on reorganizing my gallery to match my gallery on my personal website, which I will be buying a domain name for - finally - in the next couple of weeks. I still have some other new photography from my shoot in Seattle the other day. Now, a lot of my Germany photos haven't gotten adequate attention, so I'll be posting more in the forums to get some hype up for them, and I'm working on my 2013 calendars using a lot of the new photos that I've posted since creating my first pair of Germany calendars last year.

Yep, so I'm back in Seattle for the summer, currently working at Subway. I did as well as expected on my finals, which was really nice. I had a nice German meal for lunch at a restaurant downtown, because today was my day off. I haven't had any nice days when I haven't been working to take new photography though, and my reserves from my Germany trip are starting to run dry, but hopefully I'll have the chance to go take new photography soon.






Well, as you may have noticed I've been spending more time on dA again as my semester has wound down. I've only got two finals left and I suspect that my GPA for my first semester of college will be right around a 3.5, which to me at least is really awesome, granted that I haven't been in school since 2008. Anyway, I'll be heading home to Seattle for the summer, and I plan on spending more time taking urban photography down there. Hopefully I'll have opportunities to show you guys more of the beautiful landscapes out on the Olympic Peninsula or the Cascade Mountains as well over the summer. Life is good! Oh, and I saw the first episode of Avatar: The Legend of Korra. It's sweet! I'm not a huge anime fan as many of you know, but I love, love, LOVE Avatar!






Hey everyone! Sorry for disappearing for so long, but I'm back. The catch is, now I'm also in school at Brigham Young University, which means I don't have much time to work on new stuff, but because I now also have a laptop of my own again, I will try to spend some time on here at least answering my messages.






Well, after this journal entry, I'm taking an involuntary break from deviantART for an undetermined amount of time, because my brother-in-law wants his laptop back to run some diagnostics on it. I could borrow it again from him as soon as next week, or I might not ever get to borrow it again and have to wait until I have my own computer. Hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later, but if it does take a few weeks, just know I'll be back and am not abandoning you all.

This week has been awesome! I've met so many new and great artists through my forum post. I've had a good week at work, the sun is shining, and things are looking so much better in my personal life and here on dA than they have for me in recent months. My thanks go out to all my friends here for your support and friendship!






Wow I was looking at my stats and frankly, they went down a ton since I got back from Germany. I used to get an average of 1200 pageviews a month on dA, and now I'm barely getting a quarter of that. I honestly think it's because the dA group accounts spam everybody with so many deviations in our inboxes that we skip over a lot, simply because there is so much out there. I'm guilty of that too; seeing that I got 20,000 new deviations to look at every week... I kind of miss the old dA...

EDIT: Ah-ha! I started going through the list of people I devwatch. I had been watching 650 people, and I started sorting through them and of the first 300 I've looked at, 2/3 haven't posted anything new in at least 6 months. If that pattern continues, and if it's true of my devwatchers as well, then in effect I went from 600 people who actively watched my work in 2008 to about 200 who're still even active. That explains a lot. Looks like I gotta make a lot of new friends to keep my work on the "in"
