Mosquito Creek Delta by WillFactorMedia Mosquito Creek Delta by WillFactorMedia
Camera Used: Nikon P80
Photo Date: August 4th, 2008

I took this picture on a 50 mile beach hike along the Washington coastline. Our group of 15 guys hiked from Hoh River all the way north to Cape Alava.

This was taken near our first campsite at Mosquito Creek.

Die ganze Gegend da ist sehr schön. Trotzdem ist das Meer - sogar im Sommer - ziemlich kalt.

I actually call it "prime lighting," just my own lingo for that nice golden color is gives everything.

Looks almost like something you'd see in Star Wars. It's so pretty and mystical!

Nice subject and colors, but the composition would be better if you didn't have the horizon in the middle. See my composition tutorial for details: [link].

Yeah I know, my sister has a degree in traditional art and specializes in oil paintings. She's already coached me some on the rule of thirds and dead center. This photo is four years old though, and while not all my photos follow those rules, more of my newer shots do than before. Thanks for the advice though! :aww:

Yep :D Totally worth it though for the photos alone though. Getting that much exercise is good for getting the endorphins flowing.

Yeah, I want to go back. It took a whole day to hike to that particular point though, so some effort is required :D

Yeah, the Washington coastline is really cool. I might get a chance to go out to Sandpoint and Cape Alave again this summer, but I'm not sure yet :aww:

I just found a Fred beckey quote about Washington weather the other day..."weather in the cascades is actually highly predictable.either it is raining, or it will be shortly."

Actually, down where we were at the mouth of the river, there weren't any mosquitoes... if you go further back into the woods though, you'll get eaten alive by them =D

Very nice picture! You should put a little larger picture up. I love the colors and lighting... Is this Canon Beach, or near to it?
I'm also from the NW.
