A total solar eclipse of the Ekuonta terrestrial supergiant in front of it's yellow star. Ekuonta is the only object of consequential size in its solar system, having pulled all the former planets and asteroid belts into it with it's massive gravitational pull over the last several million years. This planet is roughly twice the size of Jupiter and it mostly composed of heavy metals. There is some plant life, but no animals have been known to exist on its surface. The massive core of this planet is comprised entirely of molten iron, and within the next few millenniums, this planet will eventually be pulled into its sun due to its increased size and rapidly decreasing orbital speed.

Once I release three or so more space scenes, I'll make this one and the last one (as well as the other three I have left to make) in another small wallpaper pack before I leave on my mission.

This is stunning. That's almost the only word I could use to describe it. It's hard to convey through a photograph, the kind of feeling that you get from actually seeing something like this. But I think that you've done exceptionally well.

Thanks! I know the feeling you're describing very well indeed, because my head is full of thoughts and images like this. I amaze myself with how easily I can show things like this now, whereas only three short years ago, I didn't believe myself to have much of an artistic side at all. It's just that I've had so many ideas floating around in my head since I was a little kid, and I'm finally to the point where I can share them with others, and it gives me great pleasure to do so.:nod:

Wouldn't its orbital speed increase with it being closer to the sun?

No, because if it increased, it's orbit would widen, like what our moon is doing. Speed of a falling planet wouldn't increase until it was much closer to the sun where it's literally in free-fall.

Stunning. Almost looks like an iris and pupil. It's like looking into the eye of God.

Either that or the eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings =D

Yeah, it is really cool though. I like this one a lot.

ROFL!
"Yes cry. Cry like Sauron when he lost his contact lense."

"Nobody move! Nobody move! Can someone help me find it? It could be stuck to a rock, or a tree, or something!"
